Well, just a few more days of waiting to find out who makes it to the Top 50. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait till Monday to find out. LOL
So apparently they had 34, 684 applications for this job posting. Wow, can you imagine having to go thru that many applications? What a delima that must be. Not to mention, that makes the chances of being shortlisted 1 in 693 - yep, some stiff competition folks. I know there's some good videos, but I sure hope they choose mine. Mind you, every person who sumbitted one is saying the exact same thing....... "Pick me, pick me, pick me....." LOL
So keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned........ Let's see who makes the list.

So, there's only 2 more days till the application deadline closes........ And let me tell you, there is some really stiff competition out there. Currently there are 10,221 applications in total - 997 of them from Canada!!!! And seriously, some of these applications are really good (after what I said the other day about some of the others - LOL).
I have to admit, even if I don't make the Top 50, it's still been fun. And it will be really interesting to follow this along and see how the lucky chosen one does. Of course I hope I DO make the Top 50 and next week is going to be the longest week ever while we're all waiting to find out. The waiting is always the hardest part. LOL
Well, cross your fingers for me........ 11 days and counting......

So only 5 more days before the application close date........ Holy cow have you seen how many applications there are now???? There's now 7,712 applications - 744 of them from Canada alone!
And I think the announcement about the "Best Job In The World" has just hit Japan - seems the last few pages of applications just received are ALL from Japan. Now I have to ask this....... If you're applying for a job in Australia, which speaks English as their primary language, don't you think that in your video application you should be speaking English - not Japanese???? Especially when part of the job would be dealing with people from the public at media events???? I don't know, could be just me I guess. LOL As I look thru some of the applications it's obvious that they are applying as a joke - Like little miss bikini. She's standing outside in the snow, it's -15 or something and she's talking like a 'bimbo' with all the 'tee hee hee's' and how kewl it would be to go. I was just waiting for her to bounce her head from side to side and say "fer sure" in that whole 80's Valley Girl style. ROTFLMFAO What? does she think that just because she's blonde, a size 3 and she could stand outside long enough in the -15 weather with her bikini on, that they would choose her???? Other than being qualified as a bimbo, does she really have any other experience for the job?????
But....... I digress!
I do have to say that my email (or would you call it spamming?) to everyone seems to be working...... I've had 235 views so far and I average between 3-5 stars. I know that most of my friends & family are voting 5 stars, and I have no problems with prejudice voting!!! Trust me! LOL I really hope I make it into the Top 50 applicatants they choose. Then I'll really be pushing the marketing angle of all this. I've got a few more ideas on promoting, but I really need to make it to the Top 50 for that last push. I'm hoping that I can then make it into the Top 11 applicants that get chosen to fly to Australia for the interviews - even that would be such a blast! Heck, who am I kidding? If I make it to the Top 50 they'll hear me screaming in Vancouver!!!!! ROTFLMFAO

Now with “Friends and Family”…… I’ll send out an email and see what happens…..I suspect that in this day and age, the way virus, hoaxes and the like get spread thru email….. OMG! I’ve done it! I’ve submitted the video! And I’ve gotten a auto reply they’ve received it!!!!! Yes, yes, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step!
Now the waiting……. Come on, come on….. I’ve got to be accepted…… there’s not 30,000 yet……. Imagine, it could be me! Positive thinking here….. LOL Each day it gets harder….. come on…….. There’s now 2,240 applicants…… come on…… All those people who try for those reality shows, they think the same, I know it…… LOL But I’ve taken the chance! I mean, if I didn’t try, I’d never know. All those silly quotes start going thru my head. Okay, okay, so I’ve always got a quote of one type or another for almost every situation, I can’t help it. LMAO

So with my dog Shiloh and one of my BFF’s, we jump in the jeep and head up to Big White….. This is the background of my video. Unfortunately it was one of those days where the sun didn’t want to participate, but it sure is pretty up there.
With my friend’s assistance, we shoot a couple of rounds of video footage – take some pictures and have a few laughs. Yes folks, this is going to be an adventure!!!
Saturday night, and well into the wee hours of the morning, I take a crash course in Windows Movie Maker. Using the video we shot earlier, and many of my photos that I’ve taken over the last few years, dropping in a song…….. Voila! We have something that’s looking quite good…….It’s a simple program to learn really, but because of it’s simplicity, it’s also quite limited….. Still…. It was a crash course and It does shows a little of what I could show them in 1 minute, AND Imagine what I could show the world in 6 months! Gotta stay positive! Imagine, it could be me being the “Lucky One”…… out of, right now, 1,360 applicants!!!! So I send this off to a few friends – get some feedback on what they think, go thru some refinement….. So a g/f sends me an email at work and it says: When (hahaha) you get a sec, check this out..... This job looks fantastic! http://www.islandreefjob.com/ So I take a look. At first, it looks to unbelievable to be real……. But as time goes on, I find out from different "News” sources that indeed it is real!
So then I’m driving to work and I see a sign and it says “Better to be a Lion for a day, than a sheep all your life”…… Well, if that’s not a “sign” to take a chance, then I don’t know what is!!!! (For those who don’t know me, I’ve done this before…… I read something that said “Even if you win the rat race, you’re still a rat”….. well, I moved to Kelowna with only my graphic design HBB and I didn’t know anyone in this town – 7 years later I have some fabulous friends and I don't regret taking the chance.)
Okay, now granted the Job says the application closing date is February 22nd…. Or when you read the “fine print” …..30,000 applications – which ever comes first, more or less. LOL But the sign said……… Okay, so I look at this a little more as the chance of a lifetime……. Imagine…… They’ve gotta choose “Somebody”, why can’t that “someone”be me??????
